Re: Hello Old Friend!

Hi Ronnie!

I also started hating flushes there for awhile. It was almost like they were making me sicker?? Those are the flushes I didn't really count, because I assumed they were failures. I was still trying to choke down olive oil with lemon juice instead of grapefruit juice. Since I switched to the grapefruit juice, my whole attitude has changed. I am so looking forward to this flush tonight.

But I think at times, we can overdo flushing as well as coffee enemas. I had to quit those for awhile, too. We should never use the coffee enema as just a "pick me up" because it can cause the liver to release too many mineral salts, which can be detrimental. I had a symptom come up that I had never seen before and it scared me. My fingernails started curling up at the ends. They are getting better, but I think maybe I was forcing my liver to get rid of too much of the good stuff along with the bad. So I just backed off for awhile to try to rebuild.

Also, I've been having what I think are peri-menopausal symptoms. My heart palpitations were getting very disruptive. Then one night after having too much wine, while I was lying in bed my heart just suddenly took off. It kept getting faster and faster and faster. I could not control it at all. And I became DRENCHED in sweat. I decided to get up and use the loo. As I sat there, I nearly fainted and had to lay on the floor of my bathroom for a few minutes. I thought I might be dying! After several minutes, I was able to get up and go back to bed, where I lay shivering with chills. It happened again several more times that night. I decided I'd only drink a half a glass of wine at a time from now on, although I couldn't even think about having wine for a month. It has happened only one time since then, and it was a very mild "heart flash" in comparison. Needless to say, I've been reading alot on menopause lately, so at least my fears have been allayed.

One good thing that I have noticed since I began flushing again just recently: I don't have night sweats anymore. I'd been having them for several years! I've also been taking my magnesium, and my palpitations have improved. I read somewhere that many cases of heart failure could be prevented by magnesium supplementation. And as we women age and our estrogen production wanes, we are much more susceptible to heart problems.

Ronnie, it's been so good just "hanging out over the garden fence" with you for awhile. Of course, there's an ocean between us, but talking with you again, it just doesn't feel that way. I hope that your health continues to flourish. The key is to keep reading, keep learning all you can. And if your body starts rebelling against certain things, then it's time to take it easy for awhile, back off and let yourself recover.

Your liver tightness could possibly be a result of all the hard work expelling those stones, or you could need to do another flush pretty soon. You could wait a few days and see if the tightness subsides. But, if you do have a blockage, and it's too far down in your duct, it could affect your pancreas, so you must be very vigilant and in tune with your body in this area. I once had that feeling, and over the course of a few days, I started having a "butterfly" sensation in the area of my pancreas. It began to turn into a burning sensation across the pancreatic region, and I decided I'd better do another flush. Everything turned out fine. But just watch it carefully! You might cover the area with a hot water bottle, and also take a good dose of magnesium sulfate (ES) or citrate or even oxide to relax things a bit. Please let me know how it goes.

Love,
Juniper Berry
