Flush bowels with Salt?

Thank you for answering all these questions, it's exciting!

There is a liver/gall bladder cleanse recipe that I've done and have had good success with (virtually no more allergies or asthma! Wahoo!). The grapefruit juice and olive oil are okay but I am concerned with using the Epsom Salt it calls for (to clean out the bowels). Does salt harm the bowels? I picture it like when a slug gets salt poured on it; it just shrivels up and dries out.

And is Sea Salt okay to eat with your daily meals?
