The man is insane and has an IQ of about 90 (on a good day). What would "official confirmation" of these facts net us? "Officially", he'd be put on drugs to "cure" it, which would only exacerbate his insanity, either making his delusions of grandeur more pronounced or, possibly, driving him to suicide (and perhaps taking out a large chunk of the world with him).
