Anyone aware of dysgeusia?

Hi,

I have read several articles on dysgeusia and am wondering if that could be the reason of my bad breath or bad taste in the mouth.

If I smell my saliva, it never stinks. Or maybe in the morning. If I rub a cotton swab down my throat and on my tonsils, one is smelly and the other one is not ( I have had many episodes of trying to extricates tonsil stones (That was my first theory on my bad breath/taste)and I am affraid that I have damaged my right tonsils: I now have few small tonsil stones and a rotten smell on that side). But otherwise, saliva smells good or nothing.

Could acidic, bitter, metallic taste be caused by problems in chemosensation?

I always have this bad taste in my mouth. Even water tastes like metal.

Since this disease is quite common, I am wondering if Dr Katz is not taking advantage of this illusion and the taboo surrounding bad breath to sell his expensive products.

I have asked my four year old daughter (They say truth comes from the mouth of children)and my best friend (but that was two years ago, now we live too far away and as far as I know, I don't smell bad enough for her to test my breath through the phone!) and both of them said I smelled good or ok or no smell.

Still, last class my student stepped away each time I spoke and she cancelled today's class (???). Last week, I man sighed with discust when I spoke to my son, over a hot tub at the public pool. I have to ask my partner. He's very honest but I don't trust him emotionally lately. This morning, when I asked him if he had just farted he said: No, it's you that has the mouth to close to your nose.

If I really have bad breath, that would be such a rude comment ot say.

Bad taste/breath started when I was pregnant. Dysgeusia is common for pregnant women but I'm not pregnant anymore (since April 2003!!!)

What do you know about dysgeusia, please tell me.

TY
