Re: Enrolling children in school without vaccinations

I live in Utah. Here, all we have to do is get a vaccination waiver form from either our Health Department or School District (I can't remember which one), and then fill in the reason for no vaccinations as being religion, other, or doctors orders. We then turn this waiver form in with our child's registration and they are able to attend school. The school says that if any child in the school comes down with a disease that is on the vaccination list, then those children who are not vaccinated will be sent home and may not be able to come back to school for several days until the outbreak is cleared. (In my opinion, this is very unlikely to happen.)

I would specifically ask your school district what it's requirements for vaccinations are and how to get a waiver form. There are some children who have a bad reaction to the first dose of a vaccination (seizure, high fever, etc.) and have strict doctors orders not to have any more doses. Good Luck. -Celia
