HAve you heard about the neww frooctoligosaccharides(sp?) which are called FOS? They come from chickory, that pretty blue weed that grows so well in Utah where I live. Apparantly it is the newwest rage in conjunction with probiotics. I ordered some from CFSN.com and am taking it every day with a coupla tbsp. of yerba.com bentonite. It does seem to be helping. The FOS is enteric coated, so it bypasses stomach digestion, which is one of the biggest reasons some probiotics don't get assimilated. THen it goes into the mysterious small intestine which is a powerhouse of the body, doing most of the digestive work. A lot of people end up knowing about all these intestinal cures because initially they followed the TV ads which said, "HAve acid stomach? Try tums, or maalox or whatever, which neutralizes the stomach acid but makes a mess of everything. If you were to just take HCL (hydrochloric acis) tablets, one with each meal 10mg bought from your neighborhood druggist you would be able to digest your food. A lot of the existing HCL in the stomach gets diluted when you drink a lot of liquid at the same time as you eat, like when you're at a restaurant and they serve ice water before they serve you . On a hot day, who can resist? BUt it would be better just to ask for a couple of slices of lemon to suck on before you get served.
