Create your own reality?
Hello,
I was just wondering lately (as in the last 15 years) (smile) about the whole "you create your own reality" theory. And I thought that this might be a good place to ask about it. And let me start by saying that I'm not here to step on any toes. I honestly DON'T know how I feel about the whole thing. I guess my thoughts and beliefs change often in respect to this. What I'm basically wondering is....... do you feel that you've been able to make use of the "you create your own reality" theory and change your life for the better?????? And not just "back in '86 I manifested rent money when I really needed it"...... but do you feel that you can "create your own reality" with some degree of consistency and regularity? The reason I ask is that speaking for myself..... I HAVEN'T been able to do it. I've read all the books and have been exposed to all the theories, but have just never been able to make them work. But yet, I certainly don't dismiss it, because I can "sense" the truth behind the idea. If I had to sum up what I USUALLY (like I said, my thoughts on the subject change) think is that..... "Yes, we DO create our own reality and are doing so constantly.... everything we see OUT THERE is just the out-picturing of what is INSIDE..... BUT, there are just too many uncontrollable x-factors in any given event for us to exercise much control over them." And even if we COULD control everything, how would we know WHAT to create? Often people say that the things they are most grateful for in their lives and which taught them the most are things none of us would CHOOSE (illness, loss, etc.). And then there is the issue of believing in this idea, trying to bring more positive things into your life, not succeeding and then feeling badly about it. Then not only do you have the original lousy situation, you also feel like you've FAILED at changing it. I hate to think of how many people have died in the last 25 years after trying to use these ideas to cure their illnesses, were unable to, and ended up feeling bad about themselves in addition to the original illness! These are just some thoughts and I'm NOT saying that ANYTHING here is "right". I respect everyone's thoughts about this and would genuinely love to hear other's experiences and ideas. Have you been successful? Are there certain methods/books/teachings that you think work better than others? Are there any certain very important aspects of this that make it work (and that are often overlooked by those who teach this) etc.? Thanks for listening. I appreciate your time and consideration.
