8 Years to Go?
Do you still believe things will be fixed by 2012? ©†ƒ……•™¼‡_Original_Message_¾€š½ž¢«»¬ï°©
I'm referring to the 2012 prophecies, which I still have yet to see mentioned anywhere more accredited than internet new age websites. Never once on teevee. Never once in a film. Nowhere, noone's heard of this thing it seems, only the 2% of the population who is into new age prophecy stuff, and people who wander into it by accident on the web.
So I waiver back and forth on my faith in this thing myself. I don't really think of it in terms of the evidence for the Mayan's having godlike psychic foresight, or the Hopis, or Terence McKenna ... I think about it just in terms of a hypothetical point to compare towards. I know what I have experienced in my life, and what I'm seeing in the world in the present. I'm 100% certain the world is getting 'worse'. Me, I myself am doing alright, I got electric, a good job, material comforts, noone's coming down my road with guns, but from all my sources of info on the rest of the world it seems I'm the exception. Everything does seem to be getting worse. The natural environment is degrading. We're polluting the skies, we're polluting the waters, taking down the forests, landfills overflowing, miles of chickens in cages. Movies are getting more violent, teevee and video games are sickening now, I just watched a segment on 60 minutes about this Grand Theft Auto game. Man, what the kids have to use for entertainment these days. It blows my mind. We got low level civil wars going on in every continent, famine in Africa, disease epidemics in Africa, East Asia. Terror throughout the middle-east, all these cursed religious wars. Not least of all this stuff that's happened to poor old Andreas.
Yet it seems to me it still doesn't compare to what humanity has suffered in the past. Not even close. WWII, WWI, the plague. Hundreds of people died building the highway that links up the Florida keys. 30 Million Soviets died defeating the Nazi invasion. 1/3 of all Europeans were killed in the 12th century. Even this tsunami, 120,000 people. There was a flood in China in 1897 that killed 900,000 people. The stuff we go through today is just not a fraction as severe as disasters from history. Maybe it's offensive and cold to compare numbers, but it seems to me like it's the only objective way of evaluating our situation. So along those lines it seems like wishful thinking that the crisis point of crisis points for all human history is only 8 years away.
So though I know the world is getting nastier, I don't really know how to evaluate how quickly the world is getting nastier. I don't know if it is getting linearly worse, or exponentially worse. I don't know if global warming gets worse exponentially. I don't know how close North Korea is to using Nukes, I don't know how close that idiot G. Dub is to using Nukes for that matter. I'm really hoping the crisis point for humanity is something at once peaceful and powerful like Christ's return or making contact with people on Alpha Centauri but I'm not ready to pigeonhole myself to one theory just yet.
If you believe in this 2012 stuff how do
you envision it all coming together/undone?
