Re: indigested food taking Oxypowder
I certainly wouldn't pose a question about
Oxypowder to a doctor answering questions on their website...too biased.
While it is true that germanium 132 and magnesuim peroxide both supply oxygen to the body, germanium has been shown to cause renal damage and failure at higher doses. I do not know the amount of germanium contained in
Oxypowder , but if multiple caps are taken on a daily basis over a period of time...this would be a concern. Germanium is also excereted through the kidneys.

Magnesium peroxide breaks down into oxygen and magneium hydroxide which is the ingredient in Milk of Magnesia.

Furthermore one of the side-effects of germanium is diarrhea. So we have germanium, magnesium oxide and magnesium peroxide (contents of
Oxypowder ) that can all result in diarrhea. Oxypowder's website claims that their product does not cause the loss of electrolytes that other magnesium products do. This is pure nonsense! ANY form of prolonged diarrhea will result in a disruption of electrolyte balance. It doesn't matter what the cause of the diarrhea is. Oxypowder claims that it's product works differently than other magnesium products (oxide, hydroxide, citrate, sulfate) in that it does not draw water into the intestines. This is also a false claim. Any of these forms of magnesium will result in water (and electrolytes) being pulled into the colon either to dilute the salt solution (sulfate, citrate) or to eliminate excess magnesium that the body is not using.
While I don't question that Oxypowder flushes out the digestive tract...just as any high-dose magnesium product will do (especially on an empty stomache), and I have no doubts that people will feel better using this product since virtually anyone would feel better after a good flushing, most people are deficient in magnesium and this would improve well-being, and extra oxygen in the body will result in increased energy...I don't buy the claim that this stuff is 'melting' the really old gunk that lines the intestinal tract.
I also question the cost of this product...it is excessive for what it is doing. There are several competitors offering similar products for less, and if you want want a real cheap substitue just take
Epsom Salts and an oxygen supplement...or do more exercise (which is the best way to oxygenate the body.)
