Re: what foods to stay away from???
Hi Southernbelle,
The very best thing you could do for him is for both of you to be food tested! I've just gone through a whole battery of testing for bowel cancer- from blood work to tumor marker testing to ultrasound - the final diagnosis: divertuculosis(SP?)!! Whew! What a relief!
Because I was at such a loss on how to deal with this new "thing", my doctor suggested that I first rule out
food sensitivities as a contributing factor.
Boy, what an eye opener! Wheat, Eggs, a couple of favorite fruits and nuts, and some
food color dyes. Things I'd been eating all my life- seemingly with no problem. Instead they had set the stage for all the fear and misery I'd been in!
Since then, though its been an adjustment, nearly all of my symptoms - severe pain, bloating, nausea after even light meals, nasty!gas - all of it has been cut down by at least 2/3! Just from the diet change!
The next step, for me anyway, is now learning how best to start cleaning out those "ballooned" colon pockets and hopefully shrink them. I'm finally feeling hopeful again that surgery won't be necessary- and I can get on with my life without pain!
I truly feel now that Everyone should be tested for
food sensitivity - yes, the whole family! After all, you all eat the same foods together, and "allergies" are often thought to be hereditary!
Anyway, its a great place to start!
