Re: For those of you who don't eat grains and sugar...
Hi Shannon,
Alot of folk can't have wheat products because of the Gluten- My family has Celiac Sprue inherited through each generation. So we go to the healthfood store and find some breads that are organically grown without gluten or yeast, or the grains that aggrivate Celiac.
I hate mushy breads-- it has to be organic with seeds and grains throughout. A real heavy fiber stock bread - the type they used to use in the olden-times.
Since i'm vegetarian, I make sure I get genuine natural butter on this kind of bread after I toast it. Especially since i'm always using olive oil and avoid pasteurized dairy-- i still will use butter for the B12 and nutrition only found in animal fats.
Then I'll put
Sugar free , home-made apple butter on that. Tastes delicous!
I limit myself to two slices a day .
For snacks , I crack a variety of shelled raw nuts into a bag, and sprinkle with cinnamon powder. I throw in some cloves and a Celestial Seasonings herbal tea bag or two for later. The nuts are tasty snacks and the teabags are seasoned by the cinnamon in the mix- and make great tea while I'm at work.
Though I no longer eat refined sugar, or
Sugar products any longer., I will still have a huge tablespoon of Black Strap molasses each night- along with a cod liver oil capsule. Its' a tasty treat that helps with the calcium/vitamin D I need that I'm missing until I can find some organic cows milk.
I also have a teaspoon of honey with some of the honeycomb in the morning. It holds me over for long periods, and has anti-bacterial properties. Also, the honeycomb makes for great "chewing gum!"
Celery stalks with Cashew or organic Peanut butter- dipped in unadulterated honey is a really decadant yummy dessert.
I used to chew on pens at work- now I get some healthy cinnamon sticks and crunch on those when typing at work. Great with tea!
Chocolate is a necessity for me- but I understand dark chocolate is the healthiest. I will get some dark unsweetend chocolate from one of the local shops in my area that makes thier own chocolate without
preservatives . He is so preservative free, that he closes in the Summer because the chocolate spoils faster if left on the shelf.
After a meal, I'll eat an enzyme rich fruit like papaya, mango or pineapple as a dessert,
parasite purger, as well as digestive aid.
I've lost LOTS of excess weight- in spite that I enjoy lots of raw fruits and veggies (all washed thoroughly with organic Veggie Wash), the correct organic whole grains for me, butter,
Sugar in its healthiest forms used sparingly, nuts and seeds.
There's sooo much to experiment with-- that you'll never get bored!
