Re: fibromyalgia, abdominal pain and back pain

Hi Mary Ann, sounds a lot like my problems that began a few years ago. I suspect I may have Hemocromatosis and you may too. Doctors don't take this condition seriously often enough and it can be hard to recognize in the beginning. I had your symptoms and now that they are worse and my ferritin level (the measurement of iron stored in your body, not your blood)is 516 (it shouldn't be higher than 120) my doctor has referred me to a Rheumatologist. I hope he can get it right. There are special tests for hemochromatosis and now they can even do genetic testing that is fairly accurate. It is the most common genetic disease and yet usually overlooked untill too much damage is done. Look it up, there is a lot of information to be had. Of course it could be something else but it doesn't hurt to learn all you can. Hemochromatosis is most common in people of english, irish, scottish, german, and polish decent and some information just says northern european. I know how hard it can be to get a correct diagnosis. Don't give up and do all you can to educate yourself, never just take your doctors word for something untill you completely understand your condition.
