Re: To Joanne/ MentalNomad

Coconut oil is not damaged by low heat (it in fact withstands higher heat without breaking down than any other oil), and since it only takes heating it to above 76 degrees I would not be afraid to heat it up on the stove. In cooking you do not damage any of it's properties and melting it is less temperatures that cooking would be...In fact that is what I did yesterday because it was cool enough here that mine had hardened. I tried just applying it to my hair and smoothing it out with my fingers, but it didn't work too well. So I melted it in a metal measuring cup over the burner then applied it to my hair. My hair feels nice and soft now, but is still a little frizzy. It will probably take more than one application for me to get it completely conditioned as it had gotten so dry. And once I start taking it internally at 4 tablespoons a day as I plan I'm sure that will affect my hair too and tame it down. It was doing pretty well a couple of months ago. I have been taking a tablespoon of cod liver oil a day, but as I think this is the last month for the baby he is probably taking the EFA's right now. So I should probably increase to two tablespoons. Taking EFA's this pregnancy I have not had any new stretch marks!! :) Not that it matters all that much....I have so many from Angel it is probably a small victory. A 10 pound 11 ounce baby will do that to your belly I guess...My midwife said I had the worst stretch marks of anyone she had ever seen. The coconut oil is supposed to be good for preventing stretch marks, but I have not found anyone know has any experience with old ones. Guess I could be the guinea pig? :)
