Actually, my husband and I decided yesterday that we were going to do a partial fast this Monday. I've heard that it helps your body detox more efficiently, because you stop putting more stuff in (even good stuff) for it to digest. I have done a couple of 30 hour fast before (from 12:00 pm the first day till 6:00pm the next day). I will say that I didn't treat it correctly when the fast was over, though. I ate lots of food that first meal off the fast, and of course my stomach wasn't ready for all that. I think done correctly would have a more positive affect on the body in general.
