Re: Is This Islam?
IF a woman looks at covering in the way that she is subordinate or just being a servant, then ....... well thats not really what its about.
Yes to a degree it is but to a degree it is not at all about the whim of men.
You see it is men who design some of the clothing for the women to wear, albeit half naked women. The short skirts, tall heels arent always what a woman needs. A woman does not need to show the world her charms and body. What does it do? It allows people to see her, all of her. So whats so great about that? When she gets married ( if she even wants to ) all the man does is move her spaghetti strap an inch! Its not always in the womans best interest to put all of it out as a buffet table for strangers eyes to behold. These strangers don't love her, dont protect her, dont care for her. Some with a sickness in their heart may try to use and abuse her for a temporary gain only to leave her in despair and ruin.
NO doubt each of us is responsible, and each of us can dress how we want. This is Islam too. Yet God makes mention of modesty and respect. A woman can go about her business knowing someone is not eyeing her in an evil way ( come on it happens ALL the time, wasnt it Jesus who stated just this is equal to fornication? )She is free of catcalls, pick up lines, and annoyance. Now if women dont want to cover that is their choice. There are a lot of plain people who dress modestly, its the heart God judges, people cannot see inside ones heart- this is always the first concrete step before covering or anything else.
The message of covering is not just for the females of creation, the men have guidelines as well.
Thanks for showing me that church website. That was interesting. Those tombs looked scary! But look, the muslim world was thriving and the christian community was too, along side the tomb of Moses all three religions were living together in modern palestine, before the occupation started pre 1948! There was harmony and respect in the Holy Land.
