The passage you have pointed out is excellent to meditate on that will teach on living the life of a true follower of Christ or living the life of a false teacher/follower. Please read the whole chapter. You will see teaching about fruit which we can be inspectors of.
I suggest we all pray for friends that are claiming to be Christians but living for the world.
You say you have some areas of your life that the Lord is addressing. Perhaps you will consider, as you pray for strength in Christ, to begin to lay asside parts of your life that are not pleasing to the Lord. As we walk with the Lord til the end of this life we will be growing and learning to walk in obedience to God's calling.
Do not be deceived though...A Christian will not be able to live a life in sin. The Holy Spirit will convict the heart and followers of Jesus will want to please Him and be a good representative for the kingdom of God.
