Re: Candy I have a diferent question for you

Good question. I started researching the steroid cycles my husband was doing, for my own knowledge, and I kept running across thyroid medications, then, I came across an article about a TD named "Wilson's Syndrome". This sounded alot like me. I was having a problem with my weight, I was dieting, eating low cal, low fat, working out like a fiend and I was gaining weight(not muscle). I also felt like I had chronic fatigue and I didn't trust going to our family docs. They believe in medicating EVERYTHING. So you had better know what's wrong with you before you go in, or they can make it worse. I ordered some T-3 and self medicated for 12 weeks. I felt sooooo great. I went to one of our family docs and told her I needed some. She said she wasn't experienced enough in thyroid problems and she wanted me to see a specialist. Luckily, she had another patient who had went to a doc and he was willing to treat the syptoms, not the test results. So I went, and here I am. He put me back on the same T-3. I have a thyroid that fluctuates high and low, although it stays low(under) most of the time. The T-3 helps keep my body in balance during those low times, and the overactive times seem to be less severe on the med.

In case you are wondering, I'm now almost 35. You are still young enough to get this under control and have a normal life. Once you have all of the necessary tests done, and get a diagnosis, the rest is pretty easy. Like I said, it's just a matter of finding a doc you can trust. Sometimes, if you tell them you are not financially able to have alot of unecessary tests done, they might focus on just a few and it won't cost so much.

I live near Lou, Ky., and I'm so fortunate my husband works for a company that offers good insurance. I wish I could help you in referring you to someone. I do remember on WebMD's site, there was a place to help you find a physician, maybe you could use that.

Best wishes, and let me know how you're doing.
