can i whiten teeth with braces on?

hi im 17 and ive just had braces put on, the problem is my teeth are yellow and I hate them! my orthodontist said that they'll be on for another 2 years (the braces..)
but i can't wait any longer. Is there any possible way at all of whitening my teeth? I know i'd get yellow spots but surely u can whiten them too? normally id wait but its making me really self concious and affecting everything I do...
