Re: Am I addicted?

Antianxiety meds are notorious for their addictive qualities. One of my good friends spends as much time detoxing people from them as from heroin. Any psychoactive drug will make you feel WORSE when you stop it. If something reduces anxiety, your body chemistry will ramp up to counteract the effect building what we call tolerance. when you first stop the med, your body is still counteracting making you feel worse then when you started it. Kinda like if someone (the drug) pushes agains you and you push back so you don't fall, then if they withdraw you're still pushing and fall...your body is still working to get you back to your balance and now it's overdoing it. Sorry, I don't know the best way to detox but maybe a professional can help or the folks here. Keep this in mind for the future when going on any psychoactive drug.
