Re: everyone please read. someone found a cure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi - New to the forum and have had exfoliative chelitis for
the past 2 1/2 years. Started when I lived in the new mexican
desert and spent too much time out in the sun rock climbing
and bombing arround on the mountain bike. Living in boston
now working at Massachusetts general hosptial. (I'm not
an MD by the way, I'm a PhD in physics now working in
brain imaging so my medical knowledge is limited.) In any case
I also saw all the doctors and tried everything including a
biopsy which I do not recommend as it didn't show anything and
was way too traumatic to be justifiable. And got tested
for all sorts of immune disorders such as pemphigus which I don't
have. I do have a IgG3 deficiency in my immune system that
I was born with and have always been prone to things like
cancer sores, but the chelitis is, relatively, new.
I ran across the Protopic article in Brit J of Derm a few
weeks ago while doing a periodic literature search. I got
my immunologist to get me some samples so I'm going to try
that after I pick them up next thursday at my next appt. Will
let people know how it goes. I was aware of the protopic some
months ago but wanted to make sure there wasn't something else
going on before I tried it. One question I do have for people
who have tried Protopic is that I have heard that there is a
burning sensation upon application. Does anyone know how
severe this is and how long it lasts? My lips have gotten
slowly better over the past year, and at the moment I'm only
dabbing them 2-3 times daily with medical grade lanolin (it's in
the breast feeding section of the drug store) and I've
found that while I need a little bit of moisturizer, less is
better than more. But I digress.
in any case, look forwards to hearing from anyone with info
or questions about my experience so far.
best to all
Rob
