Hi, I'm new here. I have been experiencing electric shock on 1 side of my mouth. The pain usually lasts 1sec, but it is the worst pain i've ever had. I'm wondering if it's related to having an Amalgam filling in the upper tooth, as well as an old filling directly beneath it on the lower tooth. So basically they are directly above/beneath respectively. I've heard of gold crowns/amalgam having a galvanic charge effect, due to saliva mixing w/different metals, but these are 2 Amalgam fillings.
I am upset because, i've gotten a root canal to deal w/the problem/pain and now have weakened the upper molar tooth which was unnecessary.
An additional question, the bottom Amalgam filling is very silver in color(15years old).. but the recent fillings(top) are a lighter grey color. Could someone tell me what's the difference?
