Caution on mega dose of Vit C. I almost ruined my kidneys taking a mega dose of Vitamin C. Back in the late 1970's I read of a doctor in N. Carolina (I think) that claimed he was curing polio and also herpes with mega doses of Vitamin C. So I tried it. The dose I tried was 10 grams every two hours I was awake for a week. I hit the bowel limit and pressed on, next was almost continuous
gas, and then burning painful urine. By the third day my kidneys hurt so bad I had to stop. It was a week before my kidney stopped hurting. It didn't cure my herpes and I remain very skeptical of a mega dose Vit C cure. Tweet
