Do calorie shakes really work?

Hi. I'm a 16 y/o boy, I've had anorexia for many years but have only recently recognized it. I want to be bigger, but I thrive on an empty stomach and eating solid foods is painful and often incapacitating. For almost a week now I've been buying high-calorie shakes (350 calories each) and drinking 6 every day. I also try my best to add as many solid-food calories to this diet as I can. The shakes leave me feeling bloated and and sometimes ill, but not nearly as bad as solid foods. I get the feeling that these shakes aren't being absorbed or what not. Has anyone out there tried using high-calorie shakes? Do they work?

I was so motivated when I came across the shakes. I thought they'd help me gain weight but still allow me to keep the type-A, strict, regimental, anorexic personality that I have. But now I'm afraid that it's too good to be true. Can I gain weight on shakes alone?
