Ingredients for Facial Cleanser?

I would like to make my own facial cleanser but don’t know what ingredients should be used for that. I want it to be totally natural, home-made and so it wouldn’t have to be in the refrigerator all the time but in a bathroom cabinet. I mean the cleanser that would have to be applied to face as a paste and simply washed off with water, naturally removing all that needs to be removed at the end of the day. Any ideas? Maybe clay or something like that?
