Re: Children, and Colon Health [Edited]

There's a 'Baby Nutrition' forum here, Nigel, and it talks about toddlers. I haven't read there, but there may be something useful. You'll see how the folks are heading, anyway.

Also, I posted some of what I would feed a little child, when your attention was elsewhere.

I hope that bit about whirring some dark green leafy vegetables is in there...I can't recommend the stew/soup made from this highly enough.

When I was recovering 8 weeks from a crushed bundle of muscles in my leg (and diving over a walker onto my face - stiches in my nose), while my doctor was making noises about diabetes (but I wasn't buying it)...my dh made me pots of 'green' soup.

Start with water, or vegetable or chicken broth (with NO Mono-Sodium-Glutamat (Natrium Glutamat) - and no iodized salt - so maybe make your own - it's easy). Bring to a boil, and quickly stir in your mushed greens. Let cook for just a minute or two, then take off the heat. Perhaps stir in a bit of coconut oil and a little good salt. If you want to add flavorings be very sure of what's in them. Avoid bullion cubes, and many canned bullions...read.

We like garlic, sauteed onions, dry or fresh herbs, a tiny bit of cayenne pepper (it's healing), maybe a small splash of good tamari sauce (it's properly fermented - the only way to eat soy). A little crumbled dried seaweed helps.

Nut milk makes a creamier soup. A piece of butter, or a spoonful of yoghurt makes an nice topping. Bland is good when you are recovering from something. Little Natalie might like to start with just a spoonful or two...maybe connect it to no more bathroom problems...a 'special' dish.

I swear this soup was instrumental in healing my leg, etc., when I had to stay in bed so long.

Hubby just brought me a quarter of a small Watermelon with yellow flesh. Yum! I chew the seeds, but they could be whirred in a coffee grinder...lots of minerals, I'm told.

Whole grains and brown rice can be sprouted slightly before cooking or grinding into meal for baking. It changes their nutritional value quite a bit.

Alfalfa and mung beans are easy to sprout on your kitchen counter, or in your dish drainer. Sprouting is addressed on CureZone, I believe.

Enjoy!
