Re: Big Ed! Re: pain management

Hi Big ED, These people have given you some sound advise and I hope you consider them seriously. I would like to tell you this from experience. I do not adovocate surgery except as a last resort. I have my share of botch surgerical scars(4). Should you decide that surgical intervention is the right choice for you to correct this difficult problem you face in your life, please choose someone that is highly highly skilled. In my opinion it would NOT be a *general* Orthopedic surgeon! Stay away from those guys. They are not trained proficiently in microsurgery. Yea, their ok for general knee scopes, shoulders, hips replacement. But not for the spine! For the spine I would seek the skills of a *highly* reputable Neuro Surgeon. These people are highly trained to work in small cramped places with nerves. When my father needed a herniated disc repair I found the best neuro surgeon I could find with a good tract record. I requested that he do a very small 1 inch incision under micro for the repair and he did. The surgery was a success and he lived pain free without problems. Jm
