Re: Gold Crowns? Are they safe if I have no Amalgam fillings?

I had 3 crowns, 2 of them for +20 years. When the crown was pulled off the teeth where unable to be saved due to the Amalgam corosion underneath. The inside of the crown was tarnished badly. The teeth removed gave no indication of a problem until a dentist drilled a test hole in the top of one, then the sensitivity started. So my suggestion is if you know that beneath the Amalgam is plastic you might be OK but if you don't get a new crown put on. I still have to address the last crown.

good luck
