Thanks very much for the replies. I have not heard of tonsil stones before, but a search brought up stacks of info. I'm sure that this is what they are. More common in adolescence apparantly, which is when I had them most, and why my daughter has them now. At least I know that they're nothing too serious. I think better out than in though!
