I've had two kidney stones and the last one I had the same kind of symptoms. I felt like I had to go so bad, constantly, but there wasn't much coming out. It was bladder spasms because the stone had moved down and was stuck right at the opening of the bladder. I did have severe back back with both of my stones so I would suggest seeing a doctor if you have severe pain. Both of mine had to be surgically removed because they were not coming out otherwise. That can be quite dangerous and not something to mess around with. Believe me, she would know if it's a stone! In the meantime, drinking more water sounds like a great plan! She could be having "crystals" that can cause the same kind of reaction, or so my doctor told me. If that's the case, drinking more water will help anyway.
