Re: dangers of laxatives-don't use, SOURCE

The website drugs-dot-com is not an accurate or reliable source for information on herbs, herbal preparations, natural supplements or any type of natural health.

Sadly, the information found at this site is based on FDA guidelines and FDA research.

While this site DOES provide information regarding drugs, virtually any site that openly admits their information is based on the FDA information & guidelines, is not one that most natural would even consider using as a reference.

My opinion regarding senna? It's ALWAYS a bad to become dependent upon ANY drug or herbal preparation, rather than using it to heal whatever condition is presenting (along with proper lifestyle and diet changes). But to use that drug or herb to accomplish/assist a true healing, is something that is definitely necessary.

This is ESPECIALLY true in the case of colon cleansing, flushing and health. Senna has been used for centuries to increase the peristaltic (squeezing) action of the colon. And with the basics of natural health totally dependent upon the intake and assimilation of nutrients and the efficient release of toxins & waste (which is the same for ALL life forms), if the colon becomes even slightly clogged, it can affect all other organs and fuctions in the body adversely.

If you're interested in learning more about how a healthy, working colon affects ALL areas of health & well being, I recommend reading this:

Mission Statement

The Drugs.com mission is to be the Internet’s most trusted information resource for over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription medicines sold in the USA. We will achieve this aim by presenting objective, comprehensive, up-to-date drug information in a clear and concise format for health professionals and consumers.

We are not an online pharmacy!

Drugs.com is NOT an online pharmacy and does not condone the sale of prescription medicines over the Internet without a prescription. Drugs.com simply provides a free drug-information service to help you better understand how medicines work: their uses, side effects and potential to interact with other medicines. For information on purchasing prescription medicines online please visit the FDA’s Buying Prescription Medicines Online: A Consumer Safety Guide.

Our Advertising Policy

Drugs.com accepts general advertising at the site manager’s discretion. Like Google, Overture and other major Internet sites, Drugs.com accepts advertising from US and Canadian online pharmacies only if they are verified by the SquareTrade Licensed Pharmacy Program.

The Drugs.com Database

The Drugs.com drug-information database is powered by three independent leading medical-information suppliers: Physicians’ Desk Reference, Cerner Multum and Thomson Micromedex. Individual drug (or drug-class) information content compiled by these sources is delivered complete and unaltered by Drugs.com.

The "Latest News" and "FDA Drug Alerts" sections are written by Drugs.com’s in-house staff of health care journalists. The topical health information presented under "Categories" is sourced from Micromedex and summarized by our staff pharmacists.

Drugs.com is NOT affiliated with any pharmaceutical companies. The only funding we receive from pharmaceutical companies is by way of advertisements that appear on the Drugs.com website. This advertising in no way affects the content of the drug information we supply.

Banner Advertising

Drugs.com would prefer not to display advertising banners. However, in order to keep the Drugs.com website free for our users, we must derive enough revenue to cover operating costs. Advertising is the main way we can generate this revenue. We apologize for any inconvenience that these advertisements may cause, and we hope one day to be able to remove them completely.
