I've been through this exact same conversation with doctors, but my personal practitioner has always been against surgery to remove my gallbladder. I had sludge from my first ultrasound, and it was still there 12 months later. Furthermore, I didn't have an ultrasound for another 8 years, even though I had an occasional biliary attack. That ultrasound showed no sludge, but instead it reveals that the bile was crystallizing in the ducts, which I have to assume was the primary problem.
There are just as many risks involved in having the gallbladder removed as keeping it, so it's a personal choice. There is plenty to read about the pros and cons, but follow-up studies show that it's not very effective statistically. The bile drips into the duodenum rather than being stored in the gallbladder and this irritates the intestines and can cause bowel cancer 30 years later, so it's not the best solution if you are young.
Just keep going with your cleanse and keep the faith.
