DEMAND a non-surgical treatment

In this Forum and elsewhere on the Internet, we have made it abundantly clear. Many scientists have developed treatments for cataract which have shown great promise in the lab, in animal trials or even small-scale human trials, but the eye profession has so far chosen TO IGNORE ALL OF THEM SO THAT THEY CAN PERPETUATE CATARACT SURGERY.  They say, "surgery is the only effective treatment".  That is true, but only because they have suppressed every other alternative. They seem to think: THE WORLD IS OK WITH THAT.  Well it's NOT OK.

While it is true that there are several kinds of cataracts, each driven by a different biochemistry, it is also true that for example, some eye drops have remarkably ameliorated the condition in small-scale human trials.  Wilful ignorance of these non-surgical improvements, and a general decision to delay larger-scale trials, is in violation of human rights.

We therefore urge all cataract sufferers to fight back.  Do not accept surgery unless your cataracts are putting you at immediate risk of other eye problems. Demand your cataracts be treated non-surgically. Cataract is responsible for 51% of the world's blindness, and many sufferers have no access to surgery.  Neither is cataract surgery without its own risks. Some people have poor visual outcomes, or secondary complications from the surgery.  Therefore it is your right to demand a non-surgical treatment, save your natural lens, and preserve the integrity of your eye.
