Hi all. I got a flu 2 days ago - body ache, fatigue, running nose, stuffy sinuses and chest.
I decided to do different things about it. I have a decongestant tea from my Tibetan doctor, plus another decoction from a friend who is an ayurvedic enthusiast. It has ginger, clove, cardamom, basil, liquorice, turmeric and more. I also got a homeopathic remedy for flu. And I read that high doses of vitamin C, D, and a few drops of Iodine in water help a flu, so I am taking all three of those, apart from staying in bed for a long time. I will probably see the Tibetan doctor today for acupuncture to help the flu.
I felt terrible yesterday, today I feel better but quite tired. What I am wondering now is that a flu is a way of the body to release toxins before they settle into the deeper structures of the body. Mucous is the first line of defence. This is what I've read in various places, I remember Andreas Moritz 's writings particularly. The Tibetan and Ayurvedic decoctions probably move in this direction by encouraging mucous flow.
But I do not understand how the vitamins C and D, and Iodine help. All I can find online is that they help the immune system eliminate or fight the flu virus. Is the flu virus meant to be fought or should it be allowed to be there? If the virus goes, will there still be the release of mucous? Isn't this ‘virus fighting’ going in the opposite direction of cutting short the release of toxins?
What do you think about the apparent contradiction between the idea of letting the toxins be released, by themselves or with herbal decoctions, and using the vitamins to fight the virus, aren’t they contradictory?
Are there any other suggestions you would give for the flu?
