Is it possible to get flukes when you don't travel out of the country (I'm in the US) nor eat fruit/plants washed with unclean water? The only thing I could have maybe, possibly gotten it from is sushi, but that seems unlikely. I hardly eat any meat, maybe once a month, and not much. I'm unsure of how I might have contracted them, which is interesting considering there seems to be some pretty distinct correlations.
I'm thinking of sending in a stool sample to my primary to get it checked. If I do this, is there anything I should ask for them to specifically look for? Any medications I should see about taking possibly?
