I don't know what the studies that you mentioned have to say about the effectiveness of CS on bacteria & fungus. I do know that when contaminants are introduced into any colloidal medium that the suspended colloidals (of any kind) will be attracted to those contaminants & agglomerate on to them by the action of Van der Waals Forces (weak nuclear forces), actually just what you want if there is nonbeneficial bacteria or fungal products present.
The biggest negative I see with CS is it likely kills all ambient bacteria & fungus it comes in contact with, even the beneficial. I know this because I get gassy within a few hours after swallowing a teaspoon of it. So if you have an infection, yes, the CS often works but as you would with Antibiotics you need to soon thereafter followup with probiotics, this is why I use it primarily as a topical agent.
