Weaning off (quitting) Levothyroxine?

I would like to wean off my thyroid medication. I had a proven severe iron deficiency, zinc deficiency, Iodine deficiency. Each of them can cause thyroid malfunctioning.

The deficiencies have been treated and I am currently on 1.25mg Iodine a day from Lugols solution.

However, my TSH is suppressed due to the thyroid medication and such also Iodine absorption is impaired.

Does anyone here have experience with weaning off the thyroid meds without too many side effects?

Probably it will be difficult for some time, until my thyroid starts producing the homones itself again.

I am taking more than 200µg T4 plus approx. 20µg T3 a day so I think I have to decrease the dose slowly?

I was also wondering whether, since the TSH suppression already started at a much lower dose, I should make bigger steps, since weaning the meds of too slowly will most likely keep me in a hypothyroid state as long as the TSH is suppressed but the externally supplied hormones are not enough anymore for well-being???

How long does it take for the thyroid to recover from the suppressed TSH? How long does it take until it will "kick in" again?
