True, many AGEs modify lens proteins and cause waste build-up in the center of the lens (cataract). There are hundreds of molecules that modify the proteins and lead to visual obstruction and light scattering (cataract)...Not to mention dozens of other waste products that pile up on their own...But the outer lens fibers contain cells that can sweep up all the garbage further inside if they are given the right signal to do the job. The signal comes from two enzymes, Ubc4 and Ubc5, which are lacking as we get older. It's not enough to break glycation products...We also have to re-supply Ubc4 and Ubc5. I'm going to tell the guy in the video.
