The warning is standard advice for anything that is an unknown. Nobody wants to be the cause of injury to a fetus or unborn child.

As for Don Crofts zapper, due to the closeness of contacts and the small contact size, it is probably less effective than some others and at the same time possibly less risk of anything except skin burns.
