My first guess would be a stagnant liver - I knew someone with the same problem and after he stopped the smoke, he was better. I would suggest that the smoke is toxic and the liver cannot handle the detoxification.
When the liver is congested then toxins are not broken down properly so they recirculate. Adrenals are forced to deal with the toxins. Then a whole new cascade of problems ensues.
Antioxidants reduce toxins which in turn stops adrenals from reacting. Getting the liver back to optimal health should solve some of the problems.
