EFT is not only for the emotions. In fact, "emotions" are like the tip of the iceberg, but the word is a good one, since most people can relate to feelings as causing a lot of anguish, and getting tangled in with thoughts and beleif systems.
Feelings can come and go, on a water fast, and it's fun to watch them dissolve thoughts, when they go, like waves on the ocean, and calm returns. Old, buried waste that begins to be burned up and eliminated can bring a lot of emotion up, that was previously suppressed.
EFT would be first on my list of suggested tools for self-healing, and just for a simple method to daily, hourly etc. deal with passing sensations, thoughts, pain, memory resurfacing... as Gary Craig used to say, " try it on everything".
