Re: Hey guys, I've finally found the antichrist!!
Hello again vektek. Glad you dropped by.
Rev. 20 huh? Yeah, that's a real humdinger of a passage, innit? Have you ever read Wm Hendriksen's commentary on Rev'n (More Than Conquerors)? If not, I recommend it. R V G Tasker's commentary in the Tyndale series is also v. good.
Or how about Chas D Alexander's:

His is as good as any, & I defer to him by way of reply to your query, if for no other reason than to save time, effort, and pointless duplication. You might also like to check out what Carver has to say about this passage. You can get a pdf download of his book (The Great Consummation) here:

You may have to create an account, but it's all free, gratis, and for nothing, and well worth the effort, so plse don't let that put you off. Also v. useful with a unique take on the literalist approach is Jay Adams' 'The Time is at Hand'. Again, I believe you can get a free d/load here:

I don't want to overwhelm you - at least not yet, so hopefully that's enough for you to be getting on with. If you read any of the above, by all means come back & let me know what you think. And if you still have any unanswered questions after reading all 3, I'll do my best to fill any gaps in their expositions, but I'm confident you'll find they have all the angles covered between them.
As for dating Revelation, I prefer around 90-100AD, but it's not something I would break into a sweat over if I were proved wrong. And no, I don't see any contradiction between that date and the partial preterist interpretation, which in any event I regard as a very unsatisfactory term for describing the scope of Revelation. I think it is far more accurate to regard it as a cyclical recapitulation of the entire inter-advent period, but played out in the spiritual realm, not physical. It is apocalyptic after all, not history.
