Re: Have you tried Betaine HCl (hydrochloride) supplements?
My vitamin d3 and b12 are within range, so I think these are not preventing absorbtion of other vitamins. I have not had my zinc tested but I will be soon.
I think it's important to find out what's going on before taking supplements, which is why I ordered a private GI test which showed some concerns. There is no point taking supplements if the gut is not healthy and there is malabsorption.
I don't avoid any foods so I'm not missing out on anything.
I'm waiting on a blood test for the gluten yes. The reason it's taken so long is because some of the tests I am having on the state health system and the doctor's are incompetant, untrained and ignorant. I have to beg for tests sometimes and have to list out specifically what I want tested. Sometimes the tests are not even done, or not done properly. Waiting times to see doctor's run into the months here, sometimes the year's. If you can afford to pay you get a proper service. What I have managed to amass though in terms of quantitive data is starting to paint a picture, I am also going on how well the lips have responded to a gluten elimination diet.
Also remember that there are gluten alternatives for all your normal foods. There are gluten free breads, pastas, sauces, cakes etc. It is actually a very small disruption compared to
Elimination Diets , for example. I think being gluten free is easier than being dairy free or vegan.
