I've made it regularly for years in a large stainless steel pot on my stove. I buy organic chicken soup bones, cover with spring water, add a little apple cider vinegar and simmer for at least 12 hours.
I do this mostly for my dog but I try to drink some too. I give her the meat and the ends of bones that are crushable once it has simmered over 12 hours, as per Mark Sisson (Mark's Daily Apple).
It has become a habit for me to make this - really not hard at all. The more I read about bone broth, the more I believe everyone needs it, even though I don't eat meat (I just can't make myself, even though I have now accepted that it's not healthy to be a vegetarian).
