I really don't know why this happens but you aren't alone. In the past if I took more than 1500 MG of C in the day I was in agony with abdominal pains. I even occasionally had black stools from internal bleeding. (Same with Orange Juice and several different types of Vitamin C) Continuing to take it at 1500 MG did not resolve the issue.

I assumed, at the time, that it was related to poor liver function. After almost a year of taking Solgar Liver cleanse everyday I found I was able to tolerate more Vitamin C. It's only when I get around 8 or 9 MG that I start having problems again.
I now take 6 to 8 MG in three or four divided doses a day with no problem.

MSM always sent me to the bathroom within a couple of hours but that reaction has stopped since the Liver Cleanse.

I have never found a scientific explanation for this reaction so I have to assume it is due to limited liver function. Sure glad it's over.
I try not to go more than a day without taking the Liver Cleanse. Tweet
