Re: And God says vengence is his
Jesus sends us out as lambs amongst wolves...
Jesus carried his cross and expects all of us to carry our crosses. In His Cross he is submitted to persecution as it was the will of His Father.
Jesus also turned over the table of money changers, and whipped them as well.
The Apostles never had to worry about what to say because the Holy Spirit would speak through them.
A person can be zealous while remaining humble in their heart. It's only by the grace of God we are saved, which makes us no different than those who hurt us, because they do not have the grace we do. So we forgive and pray for our enemies. Turning the other cheek is about not seeking revenge, but about accepting the will of God.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and love your neighbour as yourself. This is the fulfilment of the Law. Cowering can be a sin in this light, as is hatred.
God gives us the grace of weakness at times to learn humility.
