Re: the insane notion of iodine allergy
More wrongness from Ginagirl.
al·ler·gy
ˈalərjē/
noun
noun: allergy; plural noun: allergies
a damaging immune response by the body to a substance, especially pollen, fur, a particular food, or dust, to which it has become hypersensitive.
I didn't see the word protein mentioned.
Now, let's go beyond semantics and look at what's happening to some people.
More than a few people have popped up reporting severe reactions to iodine.
Trapper has tried to ridicule them. Ginagirl has tried censoring them from the forums. The iodiner perverts have attacked anyone who questions the religion.
I agree with her statement - how can a person be allergic to a mineral.
Iodine is also present in people's diets, or else the whole world would be populated by cretins. The question arises about supplementary iodine, dosage, and form of dosage.
The possibilities that come to mind are:
-some people are so much in the red that a tiny amount of suppplemental
Iodine causes severe detox reactions.
-unknown immune response/allergy to any form of supplemental iodine
-contaminated source of supplemental iodine
-iodinase enzyme deficiency/genetic symporter defect
(http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10403177
Mutations in the sodium/iodide symporter (NIS) gene as a cause for
Iodide transport defects and congenital hypothyroidism.)
...I have a simple workaround for this problem maybe.
-mercury/heavy metal redistribution
Mercury (or lead to lesser degree) come to mind for this person since fishies are very well poisoned thanks to the legions of corportate polluters. It could also explain both the fish and imaging
Iodine since thanks to Ted (who Ginagirl loved to ban) has brought to my attention multiple studies about iodine's ability to move mercury around possibly at least as well as chelators.
Note* - the
Iodine perverts such as Trapper and Newport used to spend quite a bit of time scolding people about the dangers of cutlerian redistribution schemes, but then saw fit to do exactly the same thing with iodine, and then ENCOURAGE people nay SCOLD them if they didn't do as they did. Very biblical. (I guess when THEY do it it's o.k. but if you're unwashed beware)
So...
In the spirit of igniting a bonfire of creativity and knowledge I put forth some ideas about what is actually happening with this subset of iodiners, banning and scolding aside.
Like those thousands of marathoners maybe dietary iodine is enough for some people.
If anyone wants to guinea pig themselves, they can try some low dose chelators and compare the reaction to suppplemental iodine. Then maybe we can get somewhere.
