Re: ? for Dr. Jeff

Thanks, Dr. Jeff, for your suggestions. I probably am low on HCl so will get some to try. Many of the Betaine HCl products have pepsin which I read comes from pigs...is that a problem?

THAT'S NOT A PROBLEM

My grass-fed whey protein concentrate does have all 3 of the BCAA's in good amounts.

IT USUALLY TAKES A SUPPLEMENT WITH JUST THE BCAAs. IT'S MUCH LESS EFFICIENT GETTING THEM OUT OF A WHEY FORMULA

I was considering supplementing with extra L-glutamine and at some point, Creatine. Do you feel that Creatine would be more effective for me than extra glutamine?

CREATINE WOULD BE A GOOD ADDITION, PROBABLY MORE SO THAN GLUTAMINE, ALTHOUGH SOME BCAA FORMULAS HAVE GLUTAMINE, AS WELL.

I've been getting a certain amount of exercise every day, especially walking, with some weight work while doing chores. I have an old Pilates machine which I'll start using regularly soon as well.

I'm looking for a healthy balance...good health and weight/muscle gain. I can be patient, but I've been under a bit of pressure from my family who all eat the same kind of crap I used to so they think I've gone nuts with my health food kick. I've been feeling so much better for having cut out all of that. I now just need to increase my calories more.

Sorry but I could never eat raw meat. I was going to increase my beef consumption along with chicken and turkey, but I recently read that beef produces ammonia which Candida likes. Can you comment on that?

THAT'S NOT AN ISSUE. CANDIDA LIKES EVERYTHING, SO YOU'D HAVE TO STOP EATING ALTOGETHER WITH THAT PHILOSOPHY. DEPRIVING YOUR BODY OF NUTRIENTS HARMS THE BODY MORE SO THAN IT EVER WILL CANDIDA.
