Re: Sure it can! If you take enough of it to kill you.
Magnesium induced diarrhea is probably due to an inability to utilize it. Not taken up, hence flushed out by a wise body.
The most difficult element for me to find out of, years!
I have friends very deficient in magnesium (from symptoms), yet came out too high in dr. tests (of course, only 2 % of the magnesium is in the blood, rest is intracellular) This result was pretty much the same, wether they took magnesium or not.
My theory would be that the magnesium is not taken up by the body, in the cells where it belongs for the most part?
I take a combination of magnesium citrate, malate + a little chloride. Small amounts to begin with, then slowly titrate up.
For uptake of magnesium; vit B, sulfur is worth a try.
Do not take supplements with dicalcium phosphate or calcium carbonate; it may block the magnesium uptake.
Boron is in the middle here; regulates the magnesium - calcium balance in the body.
You may, as I did; experiment with different types of magnesium + boron +++.
