Is dental insurance worth it?

I used to have premium dental insurance and I needed a ton of work which was covered to a large extent. If I remember, for crowns and root canals I saved over 50%.

Since then I have been uninsured but now I need a few crowns at the absolute minimum. I hear all over that dental insurance isn't worth it and doesn't pay for hardly anything but I suspect it will save me alot since I need a lot of work.

Have things changed in the last 10 years?
Can anyone recommend top tier insurance that could save me a lot?

Eventually I will need implants but I am trying to hold off until I can afford ceramic. Tweet
