Re: Olfatory reference syndrome or physical problem, advice & input (possible meet?)
I don't think people here are suffering from Olfactory reference syndrome. Maybe some, but mosts are not. If you've ever heard others saying things related to your BO several times, then the chances are, you do actually have
Body Odor problem.
It's actually detectable when your gut flora is messed up big time.
I've suffered BO for 3 years, and now severe FBO for about 3 months now.
At first, I couldn't smell anything. Neither my family& friends, nor most of the strangers whom i met on the streets, restaurants, or shopping malls. Most people didn't react to my BO. I had issues only when i took classes, and when i'm in subway, or bus. I thought it was all in my head. I even took medication for schizophrenia, which my dad thought so.
The comments that i've had heard were very hurtful, embarrassing. But as the time goes by, the frequency of the comments were very very slowly decreased until last december.
I can now detect my horrible BO, it changes every time actually. But definitely can smell it, even now when i'm in my room alone. It's more like a bad fart egg smell, which goes on and off. Now people react everywhere. When i'm in street, subway, bus, library, school..
You may want to check out your liver condition, vitamine B6,B12,D level, stomach acid, amino acid or other absorbtion cycles, gut flora(bacteria&yeast overgrowth) or parasite, thyroid/adrenal condition.
Because if you're suffering more than 3 or 4 of them, i think it is pretty much natural to have BO.
